To strengthen their team, our client is recruiting for an experienced Backend Developer who will be focusing on the further development of high performing backend services together with your team. Your responsibilities are to:

Drive continuous evolution and improvement of the backend architecture using Google Cloud Platform services, while increasing manageability, usability and peak performance;

Implement new features and components in our Node.js and Python based backend, while continuously optimizing the Google Cloud Service integration;

Consistently care for very good test coverage and automation;

Co-own the backend architecture, design, development and documentation;

Co-develop RESTful APIs which provide an outstanding Developer Experience.

POSITION:
Reporting to the CTO, you’’ll be working in a small and dedicated team, which collectively drives the product and platform development, while pushing for an optimal User Experience by using technical cleverness, daring innovations, joined decision making and state of the art platform architecture and design.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

You combine an highly energized, hands-on and goal-oriented approach, with a successful track record in multi-disciplinary scrum development, working on the backend development of platforms with a large consumer audience and big brands;

You’ve been working in The Netherland for over 5 years of which at least 2 using Python, Node.js and preferably also Next.js as well as relational databases (SQL);

In addition you’re also familiar with ElasticSearch, Google Cloud Platform, Redis, Microservices architecture, ISTIO service mesh, Kubernetes, Docker, Grafana, Prometheus, Multi-threaded/Async programming patterns, Jenkins, Cloud build and/or Terraform;

Previous experience in online travel industry is definitely a plus;

You are permitted to work in the Netherlands for an indefinite period.

NB: Our client will only consider candidates who apply for a permanent job and who have been working in the Netherlands already for at least the last few years.
